Greetings from Edgartown! It is impossible to believe that the Memorial Day Weekend is upon us. It is especially exciting knowing that Saturday brings the end of Covid related restrictions in the Commonwealth! There is so much to look forward to this coming season and it all kicks off this weekend! Here are a number of things to plan on starting this week and what to look forward to in the weeks to come. The EYC Reception Office and Club Store is now open! Tables and comfortable seating are on now on the Stringpiece! Take a stroll down to the Club, enjoy your morning coffee, or just bask in the sunshine! The Galley Grill returns for 2021 starting on Wednesday at 11:30! Be sure to come by for your old favorites: Lobster Rolls, Chowder, Hamburgers and more! EYC's Dining Room and BarOne opens with a casual dinner menu, starting 6:00 on Wednesday. Reservations are suggested, and can be made by calling the Reception Office or via the member home page! As with last season, food items ordered for Take Away from the Dining Room will be applied to your Dining Room Minimum. Commissioning is Noon, Saturday, May 29! We will be welcoming members and guests to join us to enjoy the ceremony, along with traditional food and libations, compliments of the Commodore. BarOne opens at 11:45 sharp! Our Memorial Day Weekend Dance is scheduled for Saturday night, starting at 7pm. Now that lingering Covid related restrictions will be lifted, The Sultans will keep the dancefloor lively and full! There are still tables available, so call the Reception Office to reserve a table today! Dancing starts at 9:30ish for those that wish to come down for dancing only. Jacket and Tie are required for gentlemen, and similarly appropriate for ladies. Capacity restrictions in the Fitness Center will be lifted on Saturday! Members looking to use the Fitness Center now through Friday are encouraged to contact Cathy Ashmun via THIS FORM to find the time of day to avoid over-crowding and to reduce members competing for the same pieces of equipment. It is important to note that mornings at the Fitness Center are reserved for fully vaccinated users and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. Swing by the Tennis Center and enjoy some court time starting Friday, May 28, when four HarTru Tennis Courts will be ready for play on a first come first serve basis. If you are looking to sharpen your game, reach out to Joe Holland at [email protected] to book a lesson! Launch Service is now available from Oldport Marine. As part of their traditional the shoulder season service to the EYC, the service is free to EYC Members (however you are encouraged to tip launch captains). Oldport Launch monitors VHF ch.68. EYC launch HELOT will start running June 18.
Starting May 29, there will be a J/70 and Rhodes 19 at the EYC, ready and available for charter. Book your charter on the Waterfront page of the Club's Website (Club Boat Charter sub-page). Starting June 1, Cristina will be available for private lessons. Cristina can be contacted at [email protected] . Want to spend some time on the other sandbar to our east? Join the Nantucket Rendezvous! Join a cadre of EYC members that descend on our sister isle for three days and nights of good times, June 21 – 24. Come by yacht, ferry or airplane to join the fun. Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, June 26 at 1pm for a rules seminar led by Matt Hill, US Sailing Race Administration Director. Matt will highlight all the important changes to the racing rules to keep you out of the protest room and at the front of the fleet! Dining Schedule for the 2024 Season: Lunch: Beginning on May 23th, the Galley Grill will be open Thursday - Sunday, 11:30am-2:00pm. Beginning on June 17th, the Galley Grill will be open 7 days/week, 11:30am - 3:00pm. Beginning on June 25th, the Main Dining Room will be open Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Lunch With A View begins on Tuesday, July 2nd, and is held each Tuesday until August 20th. Reservations are required and open week in advance. Please see the Club Calendar or the Lunch With A View Schedule for a list of guest speakers. Lunch With A View begins at 11:45am. Dinner: Beginning on May 29th, the Main Dining Room will be open for dinner Wednesday - Saturday, with seating's every 15 minutes from 6:00pm - 8:45pm. Beginning on June 19th, the Main Dining Room will be open 7 days/week, with seating's every 15 minutes from 6:00pm-8:45pm.
BarOne:

The finishing touches are going into the Tennis Departments' new software, Playbypoint. Once complete, junior registration will begin through the new system. We appreciate your patience. | About the 'Round-the-Island Race |
Edgartown Yacht Club held its first race around Martha's Vineyard Island in the summer of 1938, and except for the years of the Second World War the race has been an annual event since then. For a number of years the course was extended to round the Buzzards Bay Tower, but today the traditional tight course around Martha's Vineyard Island is used.

Competitive yet fun, the race 'round Martha's Vineyard is one of the nation's oldest distance races scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2020.
The two days preceding 'RTI will host buoy racing, on Thursday and Friday, July 30th and 31st.

| 'Round-the-Sound Race |
| This race is for boats that do not qualify to participate in the 'Round-the-Island Race or that wish to have a shorter race. The Course will be set to government marks in Vineyard and Nantucket Sound from Edgartown, with an approximate total course distance of 20 nautical miles. Boats that do not have life lines, and are at least 22 feet in length, are welcome to participate in this race. |
